My Journey from High School to Author
What if I told you that back then I actually tried to become an author? After finishing high school, I imagined that writing a book might eventually lead to a Hollywood movie. Now, years later, there hasn't been a single proposal like that... lol.
So, my book never became famous. Am I sad? Not at all, though I still think it would have made an excellent film. I always envisioned it as something similar to the Marvel movies, featuring incredibly well-developed characters just like we have seen in those blockbusters.
I am considering offering the first part of the series for free on my page for download sometime in the future. For now, however, I will simply post the opening pages of the story here.
Since I originally wrote this in German, the English translation might not be entirely perfect. Still, I hope you enjoy reading it. Scroll down for the german version.
Chapter 1 – The Orphanage
Times Long Forgotten
February 14, 1999 – 21:48
"But I don't want to sleep yet..."
Sister Lucy:
"Oh Bruce, my little sparrow. Why not?"
Bruce:
"Sleeping is stupid! ... Why do we even sleep, Sister Lucy?"
Sister Lucy:
"I'm not falling for that again, Bruce... You know tomorrow your new family is coming. Your new brother must be very excited to meet you. You definitely want to be well-rested for that!"
Bruce:
"But I don't want to leave..."
Sister Lucy:
"Don't worry. Everything will work out fine. Just like your hero in your comics."
"If you say so...", sighed Bruce.
Sister Lucy gave him a goodnight kiss on his forehead. She lovingly tucked him in, stroked his hair, and smiled at him. Sister Lucy was the only one who didn't take his comic book away... That's why Bruce loved her so much. As she reached the door, she glanced back at Bruce once more and whispered:
"I'll miss you, my little hero..."
Click. The door closed.
"Why do I have to sleep? No one wants to explain it to me...", Bruce whispered as his eyes slowly closed.
[Time Jump]
Bruce opened his eyes, and Leila kissed him tenderly while the sun smiled upon the two lovebirds with warm 27 degrees Celsius. A fantastic feeling, similar to the tingle in the belly one gets when eating tiramisu from their favorite chocolatier or sipping a perfect mojito. Moreover, today was a special day for them—it marked their fifth anniversary together. A wonderful surprise awaited Leila at home. He could hardly wait, though he always maintained full control. His hands gripped the silky leather steering wheel. Feelings of triumph burned in glowing flames.
The palm trees on Ocean Drive in Miami rustled wildly in rhythm, while the wind tossed Leila's hair uncontrollably back and forth. The deafening roar of the convertible ride resembled a predator's growl on a journey toward the eye of a hurricane. But no—they were heading home to their summer villa on Alton Road in Miami.
